Girl Inside

A film by Maya Gallus

2007

Feature and one hour documentary

Synopsis

A moving and intimate portrait of 26-year-old Madison as she transitions over three years, tracking her emotional, spiritual and physical journey of self-discovery. Advising her on all things feminine is Madison’s glamorous 80-year-old grandmother, Vivien – with at times hilarious results – resulting in two vastly different experiences of womanhood. A thoughtful exploration of gender, femininity and sexuality.

Produced in association with TVO, Knowledge Network & the Canadian Television Fund.

“Girl Inside goes beyond typical ‘Trans 101’ documentaries …and goes deeper into the life of one individual, with her own desires and opinions.”
