Red Queen Productions is a groundbreaking production company based in Toronto known for bringing under represented stories from the margins into the mainstream. One of the first openly queer production companies in Canada, Red Queen was founded in 2003 by Maya Gallus and Justine Pimlott to create culturally and socially impactful documentaries, narrative films and series that push boundaries, challenge gender norms and amplify 2SLGBTQ+ and female-identified stories.
Our critically acclaimed films have garnered an international profile and been featured at prestigious film festivals around the globe including: Toronto International Film Festival, Hot Docs International Documentary Festival, Berlinale, San Sebastian Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Sheffield Film Fest, Windsor Film Festival, Salem Film Festival, Citizen Jane, DOC NYC, Frameline Film Festival, Inside Out Film Festival, LadyFest UK, Singapore International Film Festival and numerous others.
